God placed elders and teachers in the church for the purpose of equipping the saints for the work of the ministry…so that “the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love”. (Eph 4:11-16)
For the next seven Fridays, we will be having lessons on equipping each of us on how to talk with our family members, friends and those we happened to meet (Acts 17:17) on the following subjects:-
- What about God?
- What about the Bible?
- What about Jesus?
- What about a Standard of Authority in Religion?
- What about the Two Covenants?
- What about the Church?
- What about Salvation?
We are thankful to bro Roger Campbell who wrote the above lessons to help us to have a better understanding of the seven subjects so that we may be equipped to use the lessons as a guide to “reason” with our friends on the truth as revealed by God on these matters with the objective of leading them to salvation through Christ.
We do expect and we strongly encourage every member of the Klang congregation to spend time during the week to study the lesson and then try to answer the questions. The answered sheets will be collected on the following Friday and Sunday or it may be submitted to sis Christina Lim in the church office. Please write your name on the answered sheets as we will mark and returned them to you asap (hopefully by the following week). Each Friday night, a new lesson will be given out to every member. Those who missed the Friday Bible Class may collect the lesson placed on the table at the entrance of the building. If you are not able to get these lessons, then please ask sis Christina Lim to make copies for you. We have ordered the printing of 1,000 sets of these lessons for your use. Soft copies of these lessons can be sent to you if you wish to have them in that form. We strongly encourage every member to do the lessons and also to attend the Friday night bible class where the subject matter will be discussed. If you have not made this as a resolution for the New Year, then please resolve to “grow in your knowledge” of the Lord Jesus Christ in this New Year. By doing these well-structured lessons, you will definitely improve your knowledge and understanding of these foundational subjects of our faith. You will then be better equipped for the work of the ministry as desired by the Lord. What’s that work of the ministry? Paul spoke about the need to do the work of an evangelist by “preaching the Word” and thereby fulfilling the “ministry of evangelism”, in his letter to Timothy:
“I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”
We look forward to your cooperation in this effort to equip each member for the work of ministry. No member who is able to read and write in English is exempted from doing these lessons. Please speak with me at 012-2066618 or via steventkchan@gmail.com if you require any clarification on the above or if you wish to be exempted from this effort. May the Lord bless you as you seek to glorify Him in all that you do (1 Cor 10:31-33). “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Cor 15:58)
