I was baptised on 24 December 2017 after YDP.  Before I became a Christian, I tended to see people as zombies, scared to communicate even if they are family members; I often locked myself in the room just to cry and often had negative thoughts. My parents tried to help me by encouraging me to attend camps and discuss things with me.

Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,’” (NIV). I love this bible verse because no matter what you are facing, God do actually have plans for us. Just like the past me, God actually wanted me to learn from it. If you are facing trouble or difficulties, pray to God, ya! Nevertheless, we should never try to give up on life as God has plans for us. It may not appear so now but with patience and praying, we will see what God has in store for us.

So what’s the old me? Many people are curious as to why I became a Christian. Before I became a Christian, I thought that it was a must to read the whole Bible and memorise it.  That’s not necessary.  John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

From the Bible we can find guidance on a lot of interesting things including relationships, difficulties, finances and so on. First and foremost, THERE IS A GOD. Heb 11:6: “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Moreover, God sacrificed so much for us. Will your boyfriend/girlfriend be willing to sacrifice for you or die for you? Imagine God sent Jesus to die on the cross just for us; He wants us to be saved.

My parents disagreed with my decision to become a Christian. They were so mad at me as they have a mindset of keeping family tradition. It was a stressful month for me to comfort them. As parents they worry about their children’s behaviour. What I did was to prove myself to them by getting flying colours in my exams, show them good Christian conduct and share with them the lessons I learnt from sermons.

Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

This is my first time writing an article for the bulletin. I hope all of you like it, if it does not fulfill your expectation, I am sorry.
