One of the greatest blessings in life comes from the blessing of being able to disburse God’s blessing to others who are in need. In the bible account of the feeding of the 5000, Jesus stepped out of the vessel and saw the multitude and had compassion on them for they were like sheep without a Shepherd (Mark 6:34). So he taught them many things (vs 34). In Matthew’s account, in Matt 14:14, the writer records Jesus having compassion and healed their sick. He attended to both their spiritual needs and their physical needs, being the great physician He is.
As we learn about who is greatest in the kingdom, let us be reminded of the account in Mark 10:35 ff with regards to the request of James and John. Jesus teaches that the greatest in the kingdom ought to be the ones that serve. I thank God for the opportunity to serve in this great area of mission in Myanmar, as Jesus taught the way up is the way down.
I encourage all of you to consider being part of this form of mission work in the future; plenty of roles to be filled. Every participant was ever so willing to serve, as sis Ai Lin puts it: no shortage of volunteers. We seek to exemplify Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, both God the son, and the son of God. His compassion encompassed both the physical and spiritual aspects of human lives. We must do likewise.
Brethren, this form of mission will draw all of us closer to each other in the spirit of oneness. When human lives are lost and challenges arise following a large natural disaster, this is where the humanitarian spirit coming alive becomes very evident. I urge all of you to come and join us. You will be much encouraged.
Let me refer back to the account where Jesus fed the 5000. The disciples have seen Jesus feeding the crowd yet with leftovers. Brethren, what is in our basket? Whatever you have you must share it to bless others. The account is teaching us that all of us have our own baskets. We must believe in the power of Jesus to be able to achieve great things with limited resources, but Jesus is encouraging His disciples to look outwards like He did having compassion. The disciples made the mistake of looking inward, looking only to themselves rather than what God could provide through them, thus blindsided by the fact that Jesus is in their presence and that Jesus could feed the 5000 despite them being very far from the city and had no money.
The Myanmar Medical Mission is a great opportunity for us to look towards God that He will provide when we are willing to seek for opportunities to serve, to minister and to teach by our examples the truth about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I hope more of you will join the existing team so that greater work can be achieved for the Lord’s Kingdom in Myanmar under the most capable leadership of Bro Richard Lee.
